Clear Creek Amana Wins Tipton Invite

TIPTON – It’s only September and it has already been a season filled with steady progress for the Clear Creek Amana cross country team.

The Clippers finished 16th at the season-opening Cedar Rapids Prairie Invitational and were third at Regina’s Bob Brown Classic.

Clear Creek Amana took another step forward on Tuesday winning its first meet title of the season at the Tipton Invitational.

The Clippers didn’t have a runner finish in the top 10 but had each of its top five finishers in the top 18, winning the team title with 72 points.

Calamus-Wheatland was second with 114 and host Tipton was third with 133.

Wyatt Sedlacek led way for Clear Creek Amana finished 11th in 18:17.

Nick O’Connor was 13th (18:24) and Cole Liebe was 14th (18:30) as the Clippers put three runners in the top 15.

Luke Wingert finished 16th (18:40) and Jack Wingert placed 18th (18:42) to round out the Clear Creek Amana top five.

Regina got top-10 finishes from Nathan Meyer and Nate Green to finish seventh in the team standings with 214 points.

Meyer placed seventh in 17:50 while Green finished eighth in 17:58 to lead the Regals.

Solon finished 10th with 244 points and was led by Jorel Justus who placed 27th in 19:23.

Zach Schocker of Davenport North won the individual title in 17:18.
