West High Boys Third at Prairie Invite

CEDAR RAPIDS – The sixth-ranked West High boys cross country opened the season with a third place finish at the Cedar Rapids Prairie Invitational on Saturday.

Host Cedar Rapids Prairie, ranked third in the Iowa Association of Track Coaches preseason rankings, won the team title with 61 points followed by No. 5 Waukee with 106 points and West High with 115.

Class 3A top-ranked Mount Vernon/Lisbon was fourth with 130 points while 4A No. 12 Cedar Falls was fifth with 133.

Freshman Kolby Greiner paced the Trojans with a fourth place finish in 16:50 while Ali Ali finished seventh in 17:12.

Clear Creek Amana finished 18th and Solon placed 19th at the meet.

Wyatt Sedlacek led Clear Creek Amana, placing 64th in 18:18.

Adam Smith paced Solon finishing 104th in a time of 20:00.
